BIMI Setup Wizard

Display your brand's logo next to your emails in supporting inboxes. Walk through DMARC enforcement, logo requirements, and the DNS record — then verify it's live.

Check Prerequisites

Ensure DMARC is enforcing before setting up BIMI

BIMI requires your domain to have a DMARC record with a policy of p=quarantine or p=reject. Let's check your current DMARC policy.

What BIMI does

Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) is a DNS TXT record that lets supporting email clients — Apple Mail, Yahoo, Fastmail, and Gmail with a Verified Mark Certificate — display your logo next to messages from your domain. It's a visibility and trust signal, not an authentication mechanism itself: BIMI only resolves for domains that already enforce DMARC, which is why this wizard checks your DMARC policy first.

How to use the generated record

Once your logo is hosted as an SVG and, ideally, backed by a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC), publish the generated TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com. Most clients take anywhere from a few hours to a few days to pick up a newly published or updated record, so verification failing immediately after publishing doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong.

Common mistakes

  • Setting up BIMI before DMARC reaches p=quarantine orp=reject — most clients ignore BIMI records on domains still atp=none.
  • Using a logo that isn't square, exceeds 32KB, or isn't valid SVG Tiny 1.2 Portable/Secure — malformed logos are silently ignored rather than rejected with an error.
  • Expecting Gmail support without a VMC. Gmail requires a Verified Mark Certificate from an approved certificate authority; a plain SVG logo alone is enough for most other supporting clients.

Keep an eye on this automatically

A one-off check tells you how things look right now. DMARC.WS collects your aggregate reports continuously, shows you which senders are failing authentication, and alerts you when something changes.
